Rockrimmon Mission Statement

Rockrimmon Elementary, an International Baccalaureate school, partners with families and communities to provide a safe, nurturing environment preparing each unique child with a comprehensive academic foundation; one inspiring discovery of purpose through passion, innovation, and critical thinking and empowering responsible, caring citizens involved in our local and global community

IB Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Dear Students and Parents, Welcome back to school! Please take a few minutes to read through this handbook; it should answer questions that you might have regarding school procedures. Rockrimmon’s most up to date school-wide communications are provided on the front page of the Rockrimmon Elementary website in a feature called “What’s New.” Please note that our school news is communicated electronically. “What’s New” is updated as frequently as needed so that timely information is available. Be sure that you subscribe to updates so that you receive an email whenever items are added to “What’s New.” Also, weekly 20Alerts are sent out with news, event updates and other essential information. If you do not receive these, please verify and update your information in Extended Parent Portal in Infinite Campus.

We believe that the number one job of the administration is to keep children safe and the number two job is to make sure Rockrimmon is a place where kids can learn. You can help us have a safe place for all students by keeping your family and emergency contact information up to date through the Extended Parent Portal. We do not want a delay in reaching a parent/guardian because the contact information is outdated. Rockrimmon Elementary received its authorization as an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) in July 2002 and was reauthorized in 2006 and again in 2011. The IBPYP is a philosophy of teaching that emphasizes the inquiry method, a powerful vehicle for all learners. It promotes genuine understanding and challenges students to engage in the study of global concepts. Learning a second language (Spanish) and community service or “taking meaningful action” are also major components of the IBPYP.

Although all students at Rockrimmon participate in the IBPYP, they are also required to meet Colorado Academic Standards/Common Core State Standards. Students at Rockrimmon are assessed by the same standardized tests that are required for all elementary students in District 20.

We believe that teachers and parents working together provide the best opportunity for our students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Our goal is to help each student reach his/her full potential and we know that you will support us in reaching that goal.

We encourage you to visit the school, become involved with our many different parent activities, and talk with us when you have questions, concerns, or accolades. Together, we can make an excellent school even better!
